Senate Urged to Rethink Immigration Bill After NJ Arrests

A definite reminder that all the fol-de-rol about trying to improve our homehand security is essentially an exercise in futility unless and until we demonstrate the political will to enforce and maintain our national border.

The arrest of six foreign-born Muslims accused of plotting to attack Fort Dix, N.J., should stop the Senate from producing an immigration bill that includes a “pathway to citizenship” or any other let-them-stay-here program, said a group that strongly opposes “amnesty” for illegal aliens….

The Federation for American Immigration Reform called the arrests “strong proof that lax enforcement of our immigration laws does pose a severe threat to the security of the nation, and that the government’s screening process for granting green cards and other immigration benefits is perilously flawed.”

The Chief heartily concurs!

Global Warming? Bring it on!

Not the End of the World as We Know It

In spite of what the MSM regularly trumpets, not even all the Euros buy into the Glowbull Warming religion, as indicated by this report from der Spiegel. Starting with a historical trace of the development of the current Glowbull Warming hysteria, the piece goes on with a rational examination of the science involved.

Largely unnoticed by the public, climate researchers are currently embroiled in their own struggle over who owns the truth. While some have always seen themselves as environmental activists aiming to shake humanity out of its complacency, others argue for a calmer and more rational approach to the unavoidable. One member of the levelheaded camp is Hans von Storch, 57, a prominent climate researcher who is director of the Institute for Coastal Research at the GKSS Research Center in Geesthacht in northern Germany. “We have to take away people’s fear of climate change,” Storch told DER SPIEGEL in a recent interview. “Unfortunately many scientists see themselves too much as priests whose job it is to preach moralistic sermons to people.”

Keeping a cool head is a good idea because, for one thing, we can no longer completely prevent climate change. No matter how much governments try to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, it will only be possible to limit the rise in global temperatures to about 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) by the end of the century. But even this moderate warming would likely have far fewer apocalyptic consequences than many a prophet of doom would have us believe.

For one thing, the more paleontologists and geologists study the history of the earth’s climate, the more clearly do they recognize just how much temperatures have fluctuated in both directions in the past. Even major fluctuations appear to be completely natural phenomena.

A healthy dose of skepticism is a good idea, especially when scientists become all too confident and make themselves out to be oracles. But there can be a wide gap between their predictions and the end result — a fundamental weakness of all computer simulations that present only incomplete pictures of reality….Other factors that can either weaken or strengthen the greenhouse effect are still not fully understood today.

Noting some of the contradictory phenomena, the big gorilla of the situation is noted:

But the main problem lies in correctly calculating the effects of clouds. The tops of clouds act as mirrors in the sky, reflecting sunlight back into space — thus cooling the planet. But the bottom sides keep the heat radiated by the earth from escaping into the atmosphere — causing temperatures to rise. Which of the two effects predominates depends primarily on the altitude at which clouds form. Simply put, low clouds tend to promote cooling while high clouds increase warming. So far scientists agree on only one thing, namely that more clouds will form in a greenhouse climate. They just don’t know at which altitude.

Even the most powerful computer models are still too imprecise to simulate the details. However, the clouds alone will determine whether temperatures will increase by one degree more or less than the average predicted by the models. This is a significant element of uncertainty.

Scam artists in poisoned pet food scandal destroy evidence

First – your tax dollars at work?!

Scam artists in the thriving food additive export industry are quickly giving the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) the reputation of Keystone Cops.

FDA officials made much of heading off to the Orient to get down to the roots of the melamine sickening and killing off thousands of cats and dogs in the ongoing contaminated pet food scandal. But even as they were telling us “Bon Voyage”, melamine bossman Mao Lijun, who exported tainted wheat products to Las Vegas-based ChemNutra, was razing his own building.

That’s ONE way to get rid of evidence!

“It wasn’t authorities that finally acted: Mao himself razed the brick factory–days before the investigators from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration arrived in China on a mission to track down the source of the tainted pet food ingredients.” (latimes.com, May 9, 2007).

Not only did this perp scam us, he apparently did a pretty thorough job of fouling his own nest:

…Mao Lijun territory: “Farmers in this poor rural area about 400 miles northwest of Shanghai had complained to local government officials since 2004 that Mao’s factory was spewing noxious fumes that made their eyes tear up and the poplar trees nearby shed their leaves prematurely. Yet no one stopped Mao’s company from churning out bags of food powders and belching smoke–until one day last month when, in the middle of the night, bulldozers arrived and tore down the facility.

“In the end, Chinese authorities caught up with Mao and arrested him. And Tuesday, after weeks of denials, China acknowledged that Mao’s company and another Chinese business had illegally exported wheat and rice products spiked with melamine, a chemical used in making plastics and fertilizers. That chemical is banned in foods in the U.S.”

Yowch! You do NOT want to get arrested by the ChiComs, but it couldn’t have happened to a better guy.

Are the Arabs already extinct?

Spengler’s latest shared thoughts from the Asia Times (a must read for the Chief).

“We [Arabs] have become extinct,” said Syrian poet Adonis in a March 11 Dubai television interview transcribed by the Israeli media monitor MEMRI, [1] but ignored by the mainstream Western media. The prognosis by Adonis, the only Arabic writer on the Nobel Prize short list, for the Arab prospect has become more bleak over the years, and his latest pronouncement has a Spenglerian finality.

DISCLAIMER: This is a SYRIAN poet that’s proclaiming the cultural extinction of the Arabs.

“We have become extinct … We have the masses of people, but a people becomes extinct when it no longer has a creative capacity, and the capacity to change its world … The great Sumerians became extinct, the great Greeks became extinct, and the Pharaohs became extinct,” he said.

G.W.O.T. Thailand Front Moves towards Moslem-driven Ethnic Cleansing

Point of no return for southern Thailand

In spite of the fixation of the MSM on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, this report reminds one and all that it is REALLY a Global War on Terror, or more precisely, a Global War on Islamofascism.

It is now violently apparent that Thailand’s military-appointed government’s policy of reconciliation toward its three insurgency-hit majority-Muslim provinces Pattani, Narathiwat and Yala was never really implemented on the ground. Instead, southern Thailand’s three-year-old conflict is veering in a dangerous new direction, where the government is establishing a growing number of loosely regulated local militias, and in response ethnic-Malay Muslim insurgent groups have commenced attacks against the economic lifelines of certain urban districts in an intensified effort to empty the restive region of ethnic-Thai and Sino-Thai Buddhists.

This situation seems to be deteriorating rather sharply – dare one point out – under the leadership of a military government lead by
a (would you believe!) Moslem general, in this predominantly Buddhist nation.

…ethnic-Malay Muslim insurgent groups have commenced attacks against the economic lifelines of certain urban districts in an intensified effort to empty the restive region of ethnic-Thai and Sino-Thai Buddhists.

Yala province is emerging as the showcase and test case for the insurgents’ new strategy, which…aims soon to seize total control of the province, including the central government’s administrative hub and the police’s forward command center in the region…. That strategy has been most visible in Yala’s Betong district, [1] where recently insurgents and insurgent sympathizers blocked road access to the area and cut electricity and mobile-telephone signals for four straight nights. The blockade, which resulted in severe food and fuel shortages, was the first overt economic attack of the conflict. At the same time, the insurgents have increased the ferocity of their attacks on the civilian population, including a series of gruesome beheadings and burnings of their victims.

These harsh tactics have caused new waves of displaced Buddhists from both rural and semi-urban areas into Yala’s main township, where they have established shelters in a number of Buddhist temples. The insurgents’ aim “is no longer to just empty villages of Buddhists, but whole districts”, said Sunai Phasuk, Thailand representative of the US-based rights lobby Human Rights Watch. “Their strength is rising each day and they are confident they can win what they are fighting for – a separate state.”

Another clear case of the “Religion of Peace” showing anything but tranquillity in its dealings with non-Moslem neighbors as it introduces the world of ethnic cleasing to SE Asia.

Shame on the FDA for consistently claiming the number 16 for dead pets in the latest wave of dead pets from poison masquerading as commercial pet food; the latest because the massive Menu Food recall is only the deadliest recall to date. Some of the same pet food manufacturers whose products are on current recall have made recalls for other contaminanted products as recently as 2006.

ChemNutra, the Las Vegas-based company at the heart of the ongoing contaminated pet food scandal, exported from China tainted wheat gluten that was used to make fish meal in Canada. During a Tuesday FDA/USDA media conference, live blogged by www.ptconnection.com, David Acheson, the FDA’s assistant commissioner for food protection, confirmed ChemNutra as the export source of the tainted fish meal.

OK. What gets wierder and wierder is that not only did they ship us contaminated wheat gluten, but the “wheat gluten” was really nothing but spiked and doctored-up wheat flour!

At the Tuesday media conference, federal officials revealed what some would call startling information as though it were old hat: It is wheat flour not wheat gluten that is behind the pet food recall.

“Oh, yeah, by the way, it really wasn’t wheat gluten…they played switcheroo and shipped wheat FLOUR in place of gluten. (No big deal, don’t sweat it!)”

“The Canadian-made meal included what was purported to be wheat gluten, a protein source, imported from China. (Andrew Bridges, Associated Press Writer, May 8, 2007). “The material was actually wheat flour spiked by the chemical melamine and related, nitrogen-rich compounds to make it appear more protein rich than it was, officials said.

Argus Bows to PC for Islamoterr Story

Double Dose of Downplaying GWOT in NJ Incident

The Sioux Falls Argus Loser Liar Leader has apparently taken what the Chief considers to be a weasel-minded mealy-mouth approach to reporting on what is arguably one of the more significant incidents concerning the activities of our neighboring practioners of the so-called “religion of peace”.

On the front page of the Argus today there is a story (not linked on their website!) with a headline that reads as follows:

6 accused of plotting to kill soldiers
“Islamic radicals” planned to hit base in Fort Dix, NJ authorities say

The body of the story reports the details of the planning and training the Islamoterrs were doing, and notes that among the key evidence was video showing the perps “shooting assault weapons on a firing range while calling for ‘jihad’ and shouting in Arabic ‘Allahu Akbar” (‘God is Great’).

Also noted were the origins of the terr wanna-bes as being in the US from Jordan, Turkey, and “Yugoslavia”, the latter of which doesn’t exist per se anymore – stating it this way avoids identifying them as ethnic “Albanians” as they were described in other reports, would make it obvious that the perps in question were of the Islamic persuasion.

So…the description of their origin is apparently a move on the part of the writer to downplay the Islamic background of the perps, and the headline of the Argus only continues the genuflection towards the shibboleth of political correctness by putting the term “Islamic radicals” in quotes.

Hello? “Islamic radicals” in quotes? Like may be this is just an FBI or NJ State Police plot to trump up some specious involvement of Muslims in a planned terrorist assault and theyREALLY are just somehow alleged to be “Islamic radicals”.

What a crock of BS! Both the Philly Enquirer writer and the Airgas-Loser’s headline writers need to once and for all wake up and smell the gunsmoke, and (finally) accept the fact that yes, indeed, there really IS a war on terror – one that isn’t necessarily linked only to al Qaeda or Iran or the Taliban or…whoever.

To continue to evade this unpleasant reality shows such a lack of situational awareness that the credibility of the MSM right here in Sioux Falls evidently leaves much to be desired. But THAT is certainly not any news, is it?

An Open Campaign of Lies, Bribery and Treason

The full-court press to turn Iraq into the next Vietnam is a story of international intrigue, wholesale lies, congressional bribery and systemic partisan treason on a scale never before seen in the United States. The entire world is watching, including our enemies, and nobody is calling it a scandal?

Today’s Democrat Party has reduced itself to the most anti-American organization in the world, yet the American press has yet to question a single outright lie, shine a light on the wholesale bribery used to buy the anti-American votes calling for retreat, surrender and defeat in the war on terror, or point out a single overt act of treason, now common place among liberal Democrats.

Speaker Pelosi and Senate Leader Reid call their surrender bill a “$124 billion bi-partisan Iraq spending bill to support our troops”. But every word of it is an outright lie!…Most importantly, the $96 billion actually authorized for the Iraq mission is tied to effectively, an immediate retreat in defeat clause forcing the American military to agree to surrender in Iraq as early as July ’07, but no later than October ’07. This is modern Democrats’ idea of “bi-partisan support for our troops.”

The Chief couldn’t have said it any better! There’s a lot more there…check it out.

No nice guys among robber barons in pet food industry

More on this situation continues to come out…but noticeably NOT in the USA MSM…apparently this doesn’t fit the NY Slimes’ test of “All the news that fits, we print”…so once again this report comes from the Great White North, eh?

The robber barons of the $15-billion-a-year pet food industry are not nice guys They’re not the guy next door who happened to go into the right business; not like Joe the Barber where you can go get your money back for a bumbled buzz cut or Uncle Charlie in the chocolate factory.

It’s thanks to the allusive robber barons of the multi-billion dollar pet industry and their unbridled greed that melamine-tainted pet food has now made its way into poultry at 38 Indiana farms.

US-Syria Meeting…and the point is…?

Rice meets Syria’s foreign minister

A month after excoriating Queen Nancy of SanFran for launching her diplomatic filibuster to Damascus, Condie herself, leader of the State Department’s Foggy Bottom Boys, makes the trip herself…for some undetermined reason.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she raised the issue of foreign fighters entering Iraq from Syria in talks with Syria’s foreign minister today but “didn’t lecture him” in the first high-level meeting in years between the two countries. Miss Rice described as “professional” and “businesslike” her half-hour meeting with Syria’s Walid Moallem on the sidelines of a major regional conference on Iraq.

So what’s the point of this meeting? Perhaps this is a clue:\

Ahead of the meeting, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad said Syria had stemmed the flow of foreign fighters across its border — a chief U.S. demand. “There has been some movement by the Syrians,” said Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell IV. “There has been a reduction in the flow of foreign fighters into Iraq” for more than a month.

A payoff in the form of facetime and recognition as being a “real” power worth the effort of the US to touch base with? It makes as much or more sense than anything else that the Chief can think of.

Still, the point is…?

Environmental Crisis on Mars!

Climate change hits Mars

Mars is being hit by rapid climate change and it is happening so fast that the red planet could lose its southern ice cap, writes Jonathan Leake.

Scientists from Nasa say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Hmmmm….similar to Earth’s warming – hold that thought!

Since there is no known life on Mars it suggests rapid changes in planetary climates could be natural phenomena.

Uh…hello? “…rapid changes in planetary climates COULD be natural phenomena” ?! Could be? What else are the possibilities?

Since we haven’t been to Mars yet, it’s a bit of a reach to think that V-8 SUV’s are causing the problem, so what’s left…space aliens that beat us up there with their SUV’s? Sort of doubtful.

Hmmmm. Let’s think again…what affects both Earth and Mars? Hey! What about the SUN!  What a concept: solar activity can affect planetary climates! What’ll be next?
